The Nurse Practitioner Association New York State (The NPA) seeks to hire a qualified individual to serve as the Association’s Executive Director (ED). The NPA is a 501 (c) (6) corporation representing nurse practitioners throughout New York State. Its office is in Clifton Park, NY. As the premier association representing all Nurse Practitioners across New York, The NPA seeks to remain actively engaged in political issues regarding health care and health care practitioners across New York State, serve as a knowledge source for Nurse Practitioners, and emphasize a member-centric focus in the association.

Position Summary

The ED of The NPA will oversee the day-to-day operations of the association, operationalize the policies set forth by the Board of Directors, and provide leadership necessary to help the staff carry out the goals, mission, and vision of The NPA. The ED reports directly to the BOD.

The ED will oversee all aspects of operations and communication. The ED will articulate the mission and vision of The NPA to the members and to the community at large.

This flex time position does not require relocation to Clifton Park, NY; however, an in-office presence is regularly required and travel to the office and to the Capitol will occur on an as-needed basis, determined by the BOD.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Experience and Qualifications

Ten plus years of health care-related experience is required. Knowledge of health care-related legislation required. Licensure as a NP in New York is a plus. Experience in public relations, fundraising, business, membership recruitment and retention highly desired. Not-for-profit association leadership experience desired. Knowledge of technology/social media is a plus.

A master’s degree is required; doctoral completion preferred. The ideal candidate with be self-motivated, creative, with strong interpersonal skills. Candidate must be knowledgeable about health care, politically aware, membership driven, and have leadership skills for consensus building. Strong computer skills required. Ability to commute to Albany, NY on an as-needed basis is essential.
